1. Information we process

Account and profile information

Depending on how you access Mau Mau, we may process:

• an internal Mau Mau user ID;
• your player name, username, language, country and optional email address;
• your Meta/Facebook platform identifier, including an App-Scoped User ID (ASID), when you use Facebook or Meta Instant Games;
• a device identifier for a mobile or guest account;
• profile details made available to the game, such as a profile image or gender, where applicable; and
• account and communication preferences.

Gameplay information

We process information required to operate the game, including match history, rankings, rating, experience, titles, achievements, virtual currency balances, rewards, tournament or league participation, friends-game codes, reports, moderation records, game settings and chat messages.

Technical information

We may process IP address, browser or device type, operating system, app version, language, approximate country, session identifiers, request identifiers, connection events, security events, error reports and diagnostic logs. Our websites use session cookies, and our mobile apps may use local storage, to keep you signed in and preserve your settings.

Payments and support

If purchases are available on the platform you use, we may receive transaction identifiers, the purchased item, amount, currency, country and payment status. Payment credentials, such as a full payment card number, are handled by the relevant platform or payment provider and are not intended to be stored by Mau Mau. If you contact support, we process your message, contact details and the technical information you choose to provide.

2. Meta Instant Games identity

Meta Instant Games provides a signed ASID identity to the game. Our server verifies the signature before using the ASID to locate the corresponding Mau Mau account. The signed request is processed for authentication and replay protection. Application logs use a shortened cryptographic fingerprint for identity-related diagnostics rather than logging the raw ASID, signed request or application secret.

Meta processes information under its own terms and privacy policy. Removing Mau Mau from Meta does not necessarily delete information held on Mau Mau servers; use our Data Deletion Instructions to request that deletion.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• authenticate users and connect an account across supported Mau Mau platforms;
• provide matchmaking, gameplay, rankings, leagues, tournaments, rewards and account progress;
• maintain sessions and restore an interrupted or active game;
• provide customer support and respond to data-rights requests;
• process and verify purchases where purchases are offered;
• protect the game, users and services against abuse, cheating, fraud and security threats;
• diagnose errors, maintain service reliability and improve the game; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Legal bases

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide the game and perform our agreement with you, to comply with legal obligations, with your consent where required, and for legitimate interests such as service security, fraud prevention, support and product improvement. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing.

5. When information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with:

• Meta when needed to operate the game through Facebook or Meta Instant Games;
• hosting, database, network, email and support service providers working for us;
• payment platforms and processors when you initiate a purchase;
• professional advisers, auditors or potential successors subject to appropriate safeguards; and
• public authorities when disclosure is legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety.

Other players may see information that is part of the multiplayer experience, such as your player name, profile image, rank, title, gameplay actions and messages you post in chat.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain account and gameplay information while it is needed to provide Mau Mau and maintain your progress. Security, diagnostic and transaction records may be retained for a limited period where necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting or legal compliance.

After a verified deletion request, we delete or irreversibly anonymize personal information that is no longer required. We respond within the period required by applicable law and delete personal information received from Meta within 90 days, except where retention is legally required. Residual copies may remain in access-restricted backups until they are securely overwritten in the normal backup cycle, which is no longer than 90 days.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss and misuse. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account credentials and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of certain data, and complain to a data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Instructions for deleting an account are available on our Data Deletion Instructions page.

9. Children

Mau Mau is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A higher minimum age may apply in your country. If you believe a child provided information contrary to these rules, contact us.

10. International processing

The game and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers and require service providers to protect the information they process.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Mau Mau or applicable requirements. We will publish the updated version on this page and change the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice.
